Below are details of what you need to use Reference Manager.

- Instant Formatting feature compatible with Word for Windows 2000, XP, 2003.
- Internet Connection required to search internet databases.
- Hyperlink-enabled fields compatible with Internet Explorer 5.0 and higher; Netscape 4.0 and higher.
To run Web Publisher you need:
- A computer running Windows 2000 or XP with persistent access to the Internet or Intranet via TCP/IP.
- Access to Internet through an Internet Service Provider (Reference Manager does not provide internet access).

Note: Windows 2000 version 2.0 or higher must be installed on the server and the workstation to use the MSI installer.

- Unlimited database capacity.
- Unlimited number of databases.
- Open up to 15 databases at once for retrieval, duplicate detection and bibliography generation.
- Unlimited storage for text fields. Indexed fields (keywords, authors, journals) allow up to 255 entries per reference. The journal field allows up to 255 characters.
- 35 reference types, each with 37 fields.
