Carlsbad, CA, USA – April 12, 2005—Today Thomson
ResearchSoft, a business of The Thomson Corporation, ships a major upgrade to
RefViz - the first affordable text analysis and data visualization tool for the
researcher's desktop. Developed in
collaboration with OmniViz, Inc., RefViz 2 works seamlessly with ResearchSoft
bibliographic management software EndNote, ProCite and Reference Manager,
and is available for Mac OS X and Windows. RefViz 2 introduces
Reference Retriever, a convenient interface for searching multiple data sources
simultaneously.
"Reference Retriever simplifies data gathering and
brings a valuable new dimension to RefViz," said David L. Kochalko,
president, Thomson ResearchSoft. "Researchers can now extend the
reach of a single search to all their desired online sources, leaving more time
for analysis and writing."
Reference Retriever - search multiple data sources
simultaneously
Now users can search for references within RefViz using Reference Retriever,
the new search interface that queries multiple data sources at the same
time. Enter the query once, and Reference Retriever identifies and
retrieves the relevant references from each data source, removes duplicates, and
automatically creates the data visualisation. Reference Retriever saves
RefViz users time by eliminating the need to perform the same search on multiple
data sources. Other enhancements in RefViz provide more flexibility in handling
visualisations and make data analysis easier for users.
Use with Bibliographic Software - Publish Results
Faster
RefViz provides researchers with a powerful way to
explore reference collections visually for major themes and topics. Users
can evaluate large results sets from online searches quickly. An
at-a-glance summary reveals trends and associates in the references, providing
an additional level of analysis that allows researchers to find the most
relevant citations for their papers. References can be moved easily
between RefViz and EndNote, ProCite and Reference
Manager, accelerating the publishing process. This combination of
products is ideal for researchers in any discipline.
